What is Wealthy Affiliate?

Wealthy Affiliate (WA) is something that provides everything you need to get started with your online business. It’s a service based membership community with over 1,3 million members (updated 2018-05-04) that offers everything from live training to web hosting. WA also have a stand-alone product called “Jaaxy” that’s an advanced keyword & competition research tool (update 2017-12-12: Jaaxy is now included in the membership as a free version).

If you look up thWAeir domain you can see that it was registered and created as early as 2005-08-31 which is rare in the online business world. The domain has been paid to 2017-08-31 and that’s a good sign so you know that the owners investing in the business for the future. It’s probably also a good sign that the site won’t disappear tomorrow!

Another thing to look up is the “Alexa rank” that gives you a rough idea of how popular the site is and how it trends. According to this WA has a very high ranking and is trending upward for the moment.

Rank WA

It always important to look up the owners and leaders in a business before you join. Carson and Kyle are very active in WA’s own community and you can get in contact with them. They have updated pictures of them self and their family’s. As far as I can find out they haven’t been involved in any scams or doubtful business or have some kind of bad reputation. Their company seems to have a good reputation as well.

It’s important what you think and I really want to help people like you and that’s why your very welcome to comment below this review if you have anything to say about Wealthy Affiliate, both good and bad. I will not delete any comment (except spam, hate msg etc.) so you can see that this is an honest review. I will respond to comments as fast as I can.

What is included in the WA membership?

There are two membership levels you can choose from in WA. One is a free membership, called “Starter” and the other one is a paid membership, called “Premium”. This is a quick comparison:

WA has two membership price levels ($0 month or $49 month) and does NOT charge you anything else for the membership. The big difference between the two membership levels is that the one you pay for includes a complete hosting service, a lot more training and access to more tools and immediate help in different ways.

Wealthy Affiliate Starter

This is the FREE membership that actually has everything you need to get started with your online business. You get access to the “Getting Started Training” (more on that later in this review), a website builder where you can build 2 websites from different themes with hosting, live & interactive help (only accessible for a limited time) and more training like video training/tutorial training/classroom training and courses.

Wealthy Affiliate Premium

As you can see in the comparison table above the Premium membership includes everything in the Starter membership but a lot more and with no restrictions at all. You get access to over 2,400 WordPress website templates/themes so you can pick the one that really suits your needs and the ability to add over 30 000 different features to your site. You also get a complete and reliable hosting solution where you can host up to 50 websites (you really shouldn’t have more…) and mail accounts. Some of the other things you get access to is a tool to write content faster called “Rapid Writer” and a keyword & competition tool (not as advanced as their stand-alone product Jaaxy).  To make use of all this you get to access to a lot of different sort and type of training as you can read more about below.

What does it look like?

When you log in to WA it will look like the screenshot below if you are a premium member but the only difference compared to a free member is what you can access.

WA Backoffice

You have a menu on the left with the functions you use for the most time at the top and highlighted. In the main part of the page, you have feeds from different areas inside WA and tabs to other feeds. On the top to the right, you have status icons from different functions. It’s easy to navigate but maybe it’s a little too much feeds on the login page. At the same time, you probably will interact more with others so it doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

Here’s my profile page @ WA:

WA My Profile

The main training at WA is set up in two different modules called “Certification” and “Affiliate Bootcamp”. The Certification course will show you how to build up a website in a niche you’re interested in and earn money on it. The Affiliate Bootcamp will show you how to build up a website that promotes an online business, in this case, Wealthy Affiliate. The training is easy to follow and after every step in the training, you must make some checks in a checklist to confirm that you did that step. That feels very educational and it’s easy to see where you are in this training, what you were done and what’s left.

WA Training

You can take part in the live video training or watch it for yourself when you have the time…

Beyond the main training, there are a lot of other training in a lot of different forms and topics. Here are some examples:

  • Classrooms
  • Live Weekly Training Classes
  • Question and Answer Periods
  • Interactive Discussions
  • Video Training, Task-Based Courses
  • Tutorial Training

The training is working for those who just started and all the way up to those who have long experience.

The support in WA is extensive and they have their own support system. You have the ability to send support questions from inside your back office, use live chat or search for help in the 24/7 community and you can even ask the owners. I actually tried that by asking one of the owners (Kyle) about a website I did but didn’t expect much. Surprise, surprise…I got a quick answer and some feedback on my site. Together with other questions, I have asked (about my hosting etc.) I found that the response rate for an answer is good and the relevance to the question is satisfying.

How can you make money?

The main way to earn money in WA is to use affiliate marketing on websites you create in a specific niche by helping people find products or services they looking for. You can also become an affiliate for WA itself and promote it on your own website or other places. Once you have a website that gets traffic (visitors) you can also allow advertising on your site to earn more. There are also other ways to earn some money and one example is if (or when) your good at something you can create a training on that subject inside WA and earn money on it (depending on how many will click on it).

So…whats bad?

Well, it’s not always easy to find bad things, however, everything has it’s good and bad sides…

When you just sign up with WA you will get quite a lot emails to help you get started and tell you more about the Premium package. If you think that’s too much you can easily go to the account settings and click NO to those emails. As I mentioned above it can be a little overwhelming with all the feeds in your back office but you get used to it.

You can’t say much about the Starter membership because it’s free but you should know that it’s much more limited than the Premium membership and the help get restricted after seven days.

The Premium membership costs money but if you want professional products/service and good support/help it will always cost money. It is supposed to include everything you need. Yes, it does but if you want to take the full step to became successful online you may need some more. For example, you should get a “real” domain name for your site, internet tools for marketing etc. but as one big source for training, networking with like-minded, hosting and help it’s hard to find something this easy to work with, that’s also inspiring and affordable.

VERDICT: Very Honest

Score: 9/10 (Very Honest)Very Honest

Recommended for: Just started, Medium experience, Long experience

This is an online business that’s been around for a long time and that’s constantly improving. The owners are well known, very active, transparent and visible. You can contact the owners and expect to get an answer. There are a lot of av reviews and testimonies out there that speak good about this company and there is nothing suspicious that I been aware of.

All this makes me comfortable to say it’s a very honest online business. It provides everything you need to get started with your online business and it’s FREE to try!

If you even a little bit serious about having an online business, or want to take it forward, I would recommend the premium package. The idea behind WA was to remove all of the other “stuff” you need to worry about during your day to day work. Things like searching for answers all over the web, trying to find a great website builder with great hosting, learn and use SEO, maybe pay others to get help etc. is no longer needed when you using the WA premium. I’m quite sure that if you are like me you will never buy another guru book or expensive online training course again and get better at avoiding internet scams if you join WA.

If you join the free membership it’s good to know that WA offers a bonus if you take the step to upgrade to a premium member within the first 7 days….you will get a huge discount on the first month of your membership!

    Hi Jan,
A very detailed review regarding Wealthy Affiliate you have written here.

I joined as a complete newbie having no prior experience in running an online business or building a website.

I have to say their training is exceptional, spurring me on to create a website around my niche and I’m quite
staggered with what I’ve achieved in such a short space of time.

Their help and support is #1 priority and is provided in bucket loads. Just ask, either a quick question in ‘live chat’
or a more detailed question to the community and I have always received an answer providing help.
I couldn’t honestly ask for any more.

How are you getting on with their keyword tool? I love using this.
    Thanks again,

Yes I try to be detailed without getting boring 🙂 For me it’s important to try to find information so everyone that read this review can make a well informed decision before joining this online business (even thou it’s free to join).

It’s good that you can join as a newbie and get started quick with the training and that there always help nearby.

I’m currently using the keyword tool inside the premium membership but as my business grow I thinking of using Jaxxy 🙂

    Hey Jan,
It’s nice to see a Wealthy Affiliate
    review which takes a balanced
    approach, without sugarcoating any of
    WA’s (however small) drawbacks. There
is also some great background info

    Hi, very good review.

I am new to Wealthy Affiliate but I
have learned a lot of new things.
What do you think about their
    affiliate program? Does it convert?

  7. Jan Post author

Hi Jakob and thanks for your comment!

I’m happy to hear that you learned a lot of new things because the only place where earning is before learning is in the dictionary 🙂

WA state on their site that their conversion rate is one out of 8 or 12% of the people go to their premium account but I have also seen others write about 5-10 %. In one discussion tread I read about someone estimated that it’s 3% in the beginning but gets better in time. WA:s numbers should be correct but I also think that those numbers is pushed up a little because of there are some really great promoters in WA. Of course it depends of how much time and effort you put in but WA has a very good way to get people in to the program so you get good help to convert.

I wish you all luck with your online business!

Hi, Smile and your welcome 🙂

I’m sorry for the late reply but some things in life can change everything.

I took a look at “Dango Estate (DE)” and the first thing I saw was that the website is gone now and a lot of people is wondering where their money went. DE was advertised as a “real estate crowdfunding platform that allows investors to invest in real estates” but instead was a typical dishonest online program/HYIP.

It had all the ingredients of a typical dishonest online program that I usually review…hiding real information, no sign of the owner, marketing material from FIVERR, pyramid type of scheme* etc.

It reminds me of my review of Richmond Berks that’s very similar to this program and also used real estate investment to lure people in. There are suggestions that the same people are behind but I haven’t investigated that so I really can’t say if that’s true or not.

I hope you didn’t invest in this business but I know that many did and lost their money and their dream of earning online.

I wish you all luck with your online business!

      Regards, Jan

*is a business model that recruits members via a promise of payments or services for enrolling others in the scheme, rather than supplying investments or sale of products or services. As recruiting multiplies, recruiting becomes quickly impossible, and most members are unable to profit; as such, pyramid schemes are unsustainable and often illegal (Source: WIKIPEDIA)

Thanks Jan for the good work,k kindly check out swissbank-corporation and how legit it is to invest and do let us know some legit platform we can invest in

  9. Jan Post author

Hi, Christiana and thanks for your comment!

Swiss Bank Corporation was a bank that merged with another Swiss-based bank to form the bank UBS.
The main things left of it is today at UBS Investment Bank. You can read more here:

    I guess you mean Swissbank-corp.com?

If so..stay as far away as possible! This was a high-yield investment program (HYIP) that promised an ROI (return on investment) that ranges from 400%-1000%. They claimed to be the Swiss Bank Corporation and used a very similar logo but was a FRAUD.

The website has been taken down now so hopefully, no one invests any money with them anymore.

    Regards, Jan
